RHD Jaguar E Type Roadster V12 Series 3 (1973) – 55,000mls – very good history

  • Description

The Jaguar V12 Roadster presented here belongs to the third and last series of the E-Type series. There is still a lot of information and instructions for this model, as well as a good supply of spare parts. The entire history is traceable from the time of commissioning in Germany and is extensively documented with additional evidence and invoices, especially from 2017. Many new parts were installed or individual components were professionally refurbished.

    Exterior

The roadster was professionally repainted in red in 1990, the paint is overall in good condition for its age. The chrome on the front and rear bumper, headlight frame and all decorative elements is in good condition and shows small signs of wear consistent with age. The fascinatingly beautiful roadster body of the Jaguar E-Type with its striking bonnet, elegant lines and round headlights is an absolute eye-catcher, classic and (racing) sporty at the same time and enables a great driving experience thanks to the technical design (center of gravity, seating arrangement, etc.). . Due to the production processes and the materials used at the time, the E-Type body does not look so “bulky”, it has a filigree silhouette and beautifully curved gradients that are difficult to find today. The E-Type features 15-inch steel wheels with original Jaguar chrome hubcaps and is fitted with 205/70 VR15 tyres.

    INTERIOR

The entire interior is in a neat and largely original condition. The interior and dashboard are black and the headliner is gray. The seats, door panels and centre armrest are upholstered in black leather. The instruments, which also show Jaguar’s close connection to racing, work properly and are in good condition. According to the seller, there is also an original radio in the vehicle and a spare wheel is part of the scope of accessories.

    ENGINE AND GEARS

The 5.3 liter V12 engine of the Jaguar E-Type was based on a 5 liter V12 engine developed for racing and also impressed compared to the sports car competitors at the time with an impressive top speed of 238.5 km/h at an unladen weight of 1565 kg (6.9s from 0 to 100 km/h) and high cornering speed with a very relaxed driving style. Sprinting or cruising are equally possible. The twelve-cylinder engine, which was newly developed at the time, was made entirely of light metal, only one camshaft was used per row of cylinders and the Heron combustion chambers were filled with four Zenith carburettors. The engine shows a mileage of approx. 55000 mls. The transmission of the E-Type is a four-speed manual.

    UNDERFLOOR

The entire underbody is in very good condition, no welding is necessary. Underbody and side boxes were blasted with dry ice. All lines were checked and then underbody protection, cavity sealing and wax were reapplied. Braking is via disc brakes (ventilated at the front). The E-Type in the third series combines a sporty, safe chassis and yet comfortable driving characteristics with good suspension, so that the Jaguar can also be used in everyday life.
