Ford Mustang V8 SVT Cobra Supercharged Terminator – (1970) – 5800mls – 700hp – restomod

  • Description

This is the Terminator Cobra, developed at Ford by John Coletti and the SVT Development crew in 2003, and it’s completely hidden behind stock 1970 body panels. The firepower comes in the form of Ford’s 32 valve DOHC 4.6l aluminum motor, force-fed by Kenne Bell’s 2.6l Supercharger, producing an explosive 688 BHP. SVT’s six-speed T-56 fires all that power to the 3.55:1 ratio in the stout 8.8 rear end. Let’s not forget the Terminator cobra’s factory engineered independent rear suspension.

All this makes for a nice bit of kit, but the real trick is that these parts weren’t bolted onto a 50 year old chassis. The entire 21st century chassis of the Terminator Cobra is intact, with all its factory components in their stock positions, just as Camilo Pardo, the chief architect of the Ford GT Supercar designed it to be in 2003. For the competitive driver, this means Ford factory antilock brakes, traction control, airbags, and anti-theft all monitored through the factory OBDII port. You can plug this car in at any Ford Dealer or modern garage. There are many fine restomods out there promising modern performance in a classic body. But they rely on a concoction of aftermarket parts, parts produced by third parties, all bolted onto a vintage chassis. They never achieved the integrated balance and performance of the 1970 SVT Terminator. Best of all, it is all Ford with plentiful support and replacement parts from the Ford factory catalog. The 1970 SVT Terminator oozes classic John Wick style, but without the wheel hop, creaking leaf springs, or solid rear axel performance of classic muscle cars. This car is capable of a lateral-G, and has proven itself on autocross tracks across America. UK registered 1970 Ford Mustang, historic class. UK V5 DVLA certified and tax exempt. Health checked.

Dodge Challenger Supercharged Hellcat (1974) – 500mls – 707hp

  • Description

Enter the 1974 Snakeskin Green Hellcat before you, the best of both worlds. The light vintage body crossbred with the modern hellcat motor puts both lean AND mean in its DNA. But to wear the “Hellcat” badge you couldn’t just drop a 707HP crate motor in an old chassis. There’s more to performance than power and weight. The 525-pound iron 318 along with its aging K-member, suspension, steering, and drum brakes all went into the bin. A factory ordered Hellcat crate motor shed 125 pounds from the scales. A corner carving tubular K-member and Independent Front Suspension from Control Freaks shaved another 121 pounds off, while adding rack and pinion steering and modern vented brakes. The vintage body was treated to a rotisserie restoration and Mopar’s signature Snakeskin Green factory paint colour.

That 707HP is sent to the rear wheels by a bulletproof 727 automatic transmission designed especially for this build with a reverse valve body. For the unanointed this automatic transmission is shifted manually from neutral down to first, second, and third gear at the bottom with no clutch, or danger of shifting into neutral at high RPM. Pretty slick bit of kit. To maintain handling continuity front to rear, Control Freaks designed a Strange Engineering Ford 9” nodular iron rear end stuffed with highway friendly 3.00:1 Posi. With so much power on tap, there’s no benefit to 4:11 gears. Cruising at 70MPH the engine retains low rpms for a 3 speed. And should you want to cruise more quietly, the exhaust features a key fob operated cut-out on the x-pipe turning it into a quieter y-pipe.

The interior is dash headliner and seats are in matched alcantera with factory SRT Hellcat call outs. An Intelletronix 6-gauge dash panel keeps tabs on all vitals with analogue needles. Remove the hood pins and lift the T/A blacked out hood too see the cat’s beating heart. It looks almost factory sitting in the 46-year-old engine bay. UK registered 1974 Dodge Challenger, historic class. UK V5 DVLA certified and tax exempt. Health checked.
